cats vs. dogs

So, it's really early (almost 4AM), and if you have dogs, this has happened to you I'm sure. I keep wet food around for my cats just so when I run out of dry food, or they look like they need a treat, I can hook them up with some disgusting concoction. Problem is, the dog loves it. I can't leave the room or the cats get mugged of their meal. this apparently happened friday night, since he had "an upset stomach". this continued all weekend and was getting better, the only exception being the frequency of his "upset stomach" bouts. so here I am, just cleaned up the "upset stomach" destruction in the front hallway of my house, and am now debating on wether I should even go back to bed. At least he woke me up before round 2 hit.
on dyeing and knitting, I split a skein in 3rds, giving me about 90 yards apeice for each, specifically for toe/heel colors. I mixed up the correct formula, based on the mini skeins. There were no light spots this time from tying too tight, but it definately did not dye evenly. I have pics to follow this post but it almost looks like the gradiated dyeing I did a few weeks back. hmmmmmm..... the only thing I can think of is that the water was really hot when the yarn went in the bath. it soaked it up in like 2 minutes to the almost clear water part. who knows.
Dave? Any suggestions..........

Hmmm...did you use ENOUGH dye? If it came out mottled, either there wasn't enough dye, or the water was too hot. I haven't used the dyes you're talking about, so I've got to do some research. It also might be something with the acid ratio, too. Are you dip-dyeing or applying with a bottle/brush?

FINALLY comments, whew. HAHAHA.

hey, not a direct response to this post, but to the last...i LOVE your colorway. when you said you followed eunny's idea, did you start with a pre-colored skein and did the overdye like she did? or did you start with a bare color. inquiring minds want to know!!

I completely agreed with sko_g: that is some really nice yarn. The color combination is beautiful. Now...if I only knew how to knit. LOL! I'm a newbie....learning. Slowly. But learning.

Nice blog dude! Visit mine when you get a chance: www.craftydad.blogspot.com.

Ok, Doug uses the ProChem stuff, and is dyeing up a batch of yarn. And he BOILS them, too. Go figger.

And I so feel your pain with the dog situation.. been there way too many times. And he's gettin' so old, i think he about has me trained to get up every night at 1-2 to let him out to water the lawn.. ::yawn:: Between that and the dancin'.. how's a girl supposed to get time to find time to do the crafty stuff? *grin*

nice blog :)
